Ours is a large geographical region so our walking tours are just as broad, with everything from art and garden tours to historical and haunted walks. We've included some of your options below. Garden Tours:

People in this region like their gardens and several groups have formed to showcase their unique creations. Check out the following list of Garden tours: Rideau Lakes Artist Studio and Garden Tour: held the Canada weekend through the picturesque Rideau Lakes area. To learn more visit their website. Up the Garden Path Artists' Studio and Garden Tour is held each year in May and is hosted by Thousand Islands Arts (tiArts). The tour is a scenic one as many of the stops are in the Mallorytown to Lansdowne area and along the Thousand Islands Parkway.

Guided Tours:

Guided Tours of Fort Wellington National Historic Site, Prescott. This is a journey back to a fort first built during the War of 1812, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary. Costumed guides take your through the fort to show the triumphs and the hardships of British soldiers and their families back in the day. The fort, which was enhanced in 1838, overlooks the St. Lawrence River. It is considered one of the best-preserved forts in Upper Canada. Heritage/Historical:

Gananoque Heritage Self-Guided Walking Tour: Gananoque is an historic town founded in 1792 and located on the edge of the St. Lawrence River. The tour features 30 different buildings and parks in this town known for boat building, factories and mills in the 1800s. Rockport Heritage Walking tour: The Village of Rockport overlooks the St. Lawrence River in one of the most scenic parts of the seaway. Rockport has been an important part of the history of the Thousand Islands. It was once a ship-building centre and is now home to popular marinas. It is located just off the 1000 Islands Parkway. You can take a self-guided walking tour through this village and see the history with the Church of the Redeemer, the Fitzsimmons House, St. Brendan's Catholic Church overlooking the harbour, the Summer House and Studio, O'Neil House, Andress Boatworks, Hickory Lodge, the Rockport Boathouse Country Inn and Rockport Boat Line, to name a few. Merrickville Walking tour: Merrickville is one of the best preserved villages in Ontario with homes and buildings dating back 200 years. A good way to take it this historic place with its old buildings, shops and galleries is to walk. There is a map and a listing of significant buildings on the Merrickville and District Historical Society website.

Haunted/Ghost Walks:

In Leeds and Grenville, there are Brockville Ghost Walks throughout the summer months. Lantern tours depart from Fulford Place from 6-8 p.m. every Friday night. Ghost walks begin at 8:30 p.m. Payment must be in cash. There is the Haunted Brockville Walk ($14.), which lasts two and a half hours. Creepy King Street Walk ($10.50), which lasts 90 minutes. There are scary stories of mystery, betrayal and even death as you walk the historic streets. The tours begin and end at Fulford Place, 287 King Street East, Brockville. Call Fulford Place Museum at 613-498-3005 for reservations or additional information. These walks are presented by the Friends of Fulford Mansion, a registered charity.
