Water

Canoeing at Brown's BayVisiting the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville gives you a number of options if you enjoy being near or on the water. We are famous for our 1000 Islands and having the mighty St. Lawrence River running along our southern border. Recreational boating on the river is enjoyed by thousands of residents and visitors every year on both the Canadian and American sides. There are a number of islands that are open to the public and some where you can camp overnight.

Along our northern border is the famous Rideau Canal, an historic man-made waterway with lock stations connecting Kingston and our Nation's Capital of Ottawa. The Rideau Heritage Route was designated a UNESCO site in 2000. Leeds Grenville is also home to a number of scenic inland lakes, including Charleston Lake near Athens. See some of the other menu items on this Visit website to learn more about our waterways and lakes.
