Kayaking & CanoeingKayaking on the St. Lawrence River

Leeds Grenville is a haven for kayaking and canoeing enthusiasts. We have many on-water trails and numerous bodies of water from which to choose. Canoeists and kayakers of all skill levels are attracted to this area because there is an archipelago of islands around which to explore on the St. Lawrence River between from Gananoque to Brockville. Everywhere you look there is interesting shoreline and lots of wildlife to see. There is power boat traffic and conditions can be very similar to ocean kayaking condition so plan your trip.

To help you with a route contact the 1000 Islands Kayak Company. Visit kayaking to learn more about what 1000 Islands Kayaking has to offer you as a visitor to our area or a resident. There are day trips, weekend explorations and a five-night adventure along what is called one of Canada's most beautiful river systems. Also visit our Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve information page and link to their site to learn more about their Paddle the Arch trails.

Canoeists and kayakers should also see what opportunities are available along the Rideau Canal, running from Kingston to the Ottawa and through some of Leeds Grenville's most scenic areas and villages and towns.
